The workshop is themed:
“Enhancing Awareness For Effective Migration Management And Border Governance”, was held simultaneously across all zones nationwide, including Zone ‘A’ headquarters, Ikeja, Lagos, under the directive of CGI Kemi Nandap, with the goal of enhancing personnel capacity for improved service delivery.

The Zonal Coordinator Zone A, ACG Mohammed Adamu ᵖˢᶜ ᵖᶜᶜ delivered the keynote address on behalf of the Comptroller-General Nandap,urging participants to leverage the workshop to boost performance. He highlighted the Service’s reforms to address emerging migration trends, noting that “the Service has actively engaged in high-level policy and strategic reforms aimed at strengthening migration governance and national security.”

He stated that these reforms have led to key initiatives like the e-Visa regime, contactless Passport Application System, e-Border Solution Infrastructure, Personalization Centre, and the launch of the Eco-friendly National Biometric Identity Card.

The ACG noted that”at the policy level, this has culminated in the validation of the National Migration Policy (2025) as migration remains a critical driver of National development, security, and international cooperation ” He further emphasized that”Global trends in Migration and Border Governance, characterized by increasing complexity and rapid change, demands a forward -looking migration framework “.

According to him, “Our borders serve a dual purpose: they’re the first line of defence against threats like trafficking, smuggling, terrorism, and other transnational crimes, and also vital for investment and tourism. This highlights the need for a balance between security and facilitation, with sustained inter-agency collaboration.

ACI Tope Arotiowa, in her presentation, said the 2025 migration policy marked an improvement from the previous analogue practice.

In a brief interview, ACG Mohamed Adams explained that the workshop aimed to boost personnel capacity for improved service delivery. “Under our CGI, Kemi Nanna Nandap, we’re working to secure Nigeria, which is why we’re doing a lot of sensitization for improved performance,” he said. Earlier, Adams described the workshop as “training the trainers” and urged participants to focus on the facilitators.
