The Lagos State Taskforce has carried out a swift enforcement operation in response to growing lawlessness and persistent violations of traffic regulations in ikorudu and its environs.

According to Mr. Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, Director of Public Affairs for the Lagos State Taskforce, the operation in Ikorodu aimed to enforce traffic compliance and curb reckless driving, addressing concerns over safety for pedestrians, passengers, and motorists.

During the exercise, the Agency took decisive action against motorist who drove in a way prohibited by law and other traffic violators who flagrantly abused the law .

This initiative even though is part of the agency daily routine, but it forms part of ongoing measures towards eliminating the dangers posed by reckless and lawless motorist who drives against traffic (oneway) , which have resulted in avoidable injuries and loss of innocent lives.

Speaking on the operation, the Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, emphasized that failure to promptly check such lawlessness could escalate into a major menace if left unchecked. He reiterated the Agency’s resolve to sustain pressure on all violators of traffic rules and regulations.

Theenforcement exercise covered several locations around ikorodu including Haruna area where recracirtant and reckless one- way drivers were arrested.

At the end of the operation, a total number of 8 motorist were proscuted by the State Mobile Courtt ,5March 24th, 2026 of which pleaded guity of two counts charge of driving against traffic and illegal u-turn. The 3 remaining offenders pleaded not guilty, and the case has been adjourned till March 24th, 2026 and May 5th,2026 respectfully. Traffic order and sanity was restored across the affected areas.

CSP Akerele further stated tha there will be no sacred cow and all hands will be on deck to achieve zero tolerance to driving against traffic in the state in line with the provisions of the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law of 2018.

The Lagos State Taskforce reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining enforcement operations until full compliance with traffic laws is achieved across the State.
