The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, has issued a stern warning to criminal elements in Sagamu: lawlessness will not be tolerated.

Through a press briefing delivered on April 14, 2026, by the Ogun State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, anipr, Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni outlined the Command’s firm response to recent disturbances and the major breakthroughs recorded under “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe.”

The trouble began on April 7, when a group of commercial motorcycle riders, or Okada operators, blocked Oba Erinwole GRA Road in Sagamu in protest over grievances. The disruption didn’t stop there. The group moved to the Vehicle Inspection Office and TRACE Office in Sotubo before storming the Sotubo Health Centre, halting essential services and causing hardship for residents.

Police operatives responded swiftly to disperse the unlawful assembly. But the group regrouped and escalated the situation before calm was restored. The Command immediately intensified intelligence gathering, leading to the arrest of ten principal suspects directly linked to the incident. They have since been charged to court, and their statements provided key leads for further operations.

Building on that momentum, operatives of the Sagamu Area Command carried out a coordinated, intelligence-led raid in the early hours of April 13. The target was identified criminal flashpoints across Sagamu. This time, it was a joint effort involving the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Amotekun Corps, the Ogun State Community Security Corps, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.

The operation proved successful, with 146 suspects arrested. All are currently undergoing screening, and those found culpable will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta for investigation and prosecution.

At the briefing, Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, read the riot act to troublemakers in Sagamu and its environs. He stated unequivocally that the Ogun State Police Command will not tolerate unlawful assemblies, violent protests, or any actions that disrupt public peace and order. While citizens have the right to express grievances, he stressed that such expressions must be within the law. Any attempt to resort to self-help, block public roads, or attack public institutions will be met with the full weight of the law.

CP Bode Ojajuni said the Command remains fully prepared, strategically positioned, and operationally equipped to deal decisively with any act of lawlessness. “There will be no hiding place for individuals or groups intent on undermining public peace,” he warned.

He also acknowledged the role of local partners in sustaining the gains of “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe.” The Commissioner expressed appreciation to the Sagamu Local Government and traditional rulers for their unwavering support, cooperation, and guidance in maintaining peace and security. He further commended the professionalism, discipline, and synergy displayed by all participating security agencies, noting that the collaboration continues to strengthen operational effectiveness and public trust.

The public has been urged to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and cooperative with security agencies, with grievances channeled only through lawful means.
