The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has tasked newly deployed cadets from the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, to uphold discipline, professionalism, and a willingness to learn during their one-month attachment in the state.

The cadets have been encouraged to seize the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in policing, going beyond theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom. During an address at the police headquarters in Lokoja, the Police Commissioner stressed the significance of upholding professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights throughout their practical training.

He emphasized that the attachment period is a vital component of the Cadet program, urging the cadets to leverage this opportunity to translate theoretical concepts into practical policing experiences, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world application.

CP Dantawaye emphasized the importance of learning from colleagues across all levels, responsibly engaging with the public, and upholding the core values of integrity, service, and justice. This advice was shared through a statement issued by Police spokesperson, SP William Ovie Aya, in Lokoja on Wednesday.

According to SP William Ovie Aya, the cadets have been strategically deployed across various divisions and formations within the state. This tactical move aims to provide them with hands-on experience in crucial areas, including:

Criminal Investigation: Where they’ll learn the intricacies of gathering evidence and solving crimes.

Traffic Control and Management: Enabling them to understand the importance of maintaining order on the roads.

Administration: Teaching them the administrative aspects of policing.
Counter-Duty: Preparing them to respond effectively in high-pressure situations.

CP Dantawaye pledged the Command’s unwavering support to the cadets, urging them to maximize the valuable mentorship opportunities provided by seasoned officers. Additionally, he instructed the Divisional Police Officers to provide meticulous supervision and guidance throughout the attachment period, ensuring the cadets receive the best possible training and experience.
