The Nigeria Police Force has announced a new round of postings for several Deputy Inspectors-General (DIGs), aimed at boosting operational efficiency in key departments at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The office of the Force Secretary issued a directive, marked “most immediate,” instructing the redeployment of senior officers to key positions in various police directorates. An internal wireless message sent to police commands and units nationwide reveals the postings impact key departments at the Force Headquarters.

Under the new arrangement, DIG Zachariah Fera Achinyan has been posted to the Department of Legal Services (DLS), while DIG Zango Ibrahim Baba will head the Department of Research and Planning (R&P).

DIG Isyaku Mohammed has been assigned to the Department of Training and Development (DTD), while DIG Margaret Ochalla takes charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID).

Other appointments include DIG Mohammed Sulaiman, who will oversee the Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), and DIG Kenechukwu Aig Onwuemelie, who has been deployed to head the Force Intelligence Department (FID).

In the same reshuffle, DIG Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha has been appointed to lead the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), while DIG Umar Shehu Nadada will head the Department of Operations (DOPS).

The directive was circulated across several commands, departments, and specialised units within the police structure, including border patrol units, maritime commands, anti-bomb squads, K9 units, and state police commands, with officers instructed to immediately update internal records to reflect the new postings.

Police authorities described the reshuffle as part of routine administrative measures aimed at improving operational coordination and strengthening the effectiveness of the force.
