Jakande Sworn In, Vows to Uphold Legacy


Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, officially swore in 57 newly elected Chairmen and Vice Chairmen, including Hon. Seyi Jakande as the Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA on Sunday, July 27, 2025. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the the Sports Ground of the Governor’s Office, Lagos House.

The swearing-in ceremony marked the dawn of a new era in grassroots governance. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to local development, charging the newly inaugurated council leaders to prioritize selfless leadership, inclusivity, and sustainable community impact.

He emphasized the importance of responsive governance, urging the chairmen to focus on initiatives that benefit the people and drive progress in their respective local government areas.The governor also charged them to align their developmental efforts with the THEMES+ agenda.


“As leaders closest to the people, your role is pivotal in ensuring the direct impact of government initiatives at the grassroots level. I urge you to prioritize the needs of your constituents, foster meaningful engagement with your communities, and deliver tangible results that embody the true essence of democracy,” Sanwo-Olu emphasized.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu congratulated the newly sworn-in chairmen and urged them to work diligently towards improving their communities. “The people have placed their trust in you, and it’s your responsibility to deliver on your promises and uplift the standard of living for all residents,” he said.

The governor also urged the chairmen to use their first 30 to 60 days in office to understand the needs of their communities and adopt inclusive leadership practices.The swearing-in ceremony marked a new chapter in local governance and development in Lagos State, with community members and stakeholders looking forward to positive changes and initiatives under the new leadership.

Speaking to the press at the Lagos House in Ikeja, Seyi Jakande outlined his vision for the community, emphasizing his commitment to progress and development. He highlighted his comprehensive 4-point HEWA Agenda, focusing on:
– Health: Improving healthcare services and facilities
– Environmental Sustainability: Promoting eco-friendly practices and waste management
– Education: Enhancing educational programs and institutions
– Women and Youth Empowerment & Agriculture and Security: Supporting economic and social development for women and youth, boosting agricultural productivity, and ensuring community safety
Jakande’s agenda aims to drive meaningful change and improve the quality of life for residents in Odi-Olowo/ Ojuwoye LCDA.
He stated, “I’m deeply honored to serve the people of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye, and I pledge to focus on initiatives that will enhance healthcare, improve educational facilities, develop infrastructure, and boost agricultural productivity.” This commitment underscores his dedication to improving the overall quality of life for the community
