Police on High Alert: Security Tightened as Festive Season Approaches, Targeting Illegal Firecracker Activities

As preparations for the year-end festivities gather momentum, the FCT Police Command has intensified efforts to curb the rising use and circulation of firecrackers, knockouts, and other unauthorized explosives across the Territory. Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, psc, cautions residents to steer clear of buying, selling, or igniting these hazardous items.

The Command notes that firecrackers not only pose serious threats such as injuries and fire outbreaks but also create noise disruptions and conditions that criminals can exploit to conceal their activities. .Their misuse further endangers vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and individuals with medical sensitivities.
To ensure a safer festive season, police operatives have been mandated to strictly enforce the prohibition, with clear instructions to arrest and prosecute violators.
