Tragic End: Husband Stabs Wife To Death, Commits Suicide In Ogun State

A man, Ayoola Ayanwale, was found dead in a suspected suicide in Ogun State, hours after he allegedly stabbed his wife, Ayobami, to death at their home in River Valley Estate.

Ayoola Ayanwale allegedly stabbed his wife, a mother of three, to death on January 8 in their River Valley Estate apartment, following a heated argument. Neighbors, responding to a loud noise, discovered her with severe cuts and bleeding heavily.

Neighbors rushed the woman to the hospital after finding her with severe cuts. On the way, she asked for water and questioned why her husband had hurt her. She died less than five minutes after arriving at the hospital; doctors said stab wounds near her lungs caused breathing difficulties. The neighbors were shocked, the husband later returned home to clean up the blood.

The deceased’s brother alleged that Ayanwale stabbed his sister multiple times in the presence of their three children, targeting her breast, back, and chest.

Just 12 hours after the killing, the husband was found struggling to breathe in an open field in Ogun State’s Sotubo area on January 9. He was later pronounced dead by a doctor.

Items found at the scene include a bottle with a suspected liquid, two phones, a voter’s card, and an ATM card.

Police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed the incident, saying the command will release a statement soon.
