The Lagos State Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh, has arrested two prime suspects in connection with the murder of Ajiran community princes, Sherrif Isola Salami and Ademola Akinloye.

According to a press statement released by Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, the details are as follows:

“Armed Robbery and Criminal Conspiracy: Arrest of Principal Suspects
The principal suspects are Safiua Fatai aka Fabo, ‘M’, 40 yrs, and Yusuf Ismailia aka Bariga. Suspects at large are Alhaji Ahmed Tajudeen Akanbi, ‘M’, 30 yrs (principal and sponsor of the murders), Soji Mascot, Mr Bode, and Mr Kenny. Deceased victims are Sheriff Salami ishola, 37 yrs, killed on 18/4/23 at Moba town in Eti Osa at around 3pm and Prince Ademola Akinloye, 38 yrs, killed 26/8/24 along Chevron road Ajiran, Eti Osa LGA.

On 18/4/23 at about 1500hrs following above mentioned suspects (i) SafiuFatai aka fabo, 40yrs (ii) Yusuf Ismaila, (iii)Soji mascot and (iv) Kenny were armed with locally fabricated pistol, axe and machetes way laid Sheriff Salami Ishola, dragged him into an isolated building on Mobile road in Moba Ajah, Eti Osa LGA. Safiu Salami, one of the primary suspect now in police custody confessed to have held him down, while himself, and Yusuf ishola aka bariga who also have been arrested and in police custody, along with Soji Mascot and Kenny shot Sheriff Salami Ishola severally and he died on the spot. They all subsequent fled from the scene.

The two principal suspect Yusuf Ismaila aka Bariga and Safiu Fatai aka Faboboth currently in police custody confessed to the crime and admitted that they carried out the killing on the order and instruction of one Ahmed Tajudeen Akanbi 38yrs, who hired them to kill the deceased Sheriff Salami Ishola.

SECOND MURDER

On the 26/8/24 the same suspects confessed to being a part of the gangthat killed one Prince Ademola Akinloye, the son of Oba Adetunji Akinloye, theOjomu of Ajiran land, Eti Osa LGA, Lagos state.

In similar circumstances withthe same modus operandi by these suspects. The deceased was shot several times along Chevron road Ajiran Eti Osa LGA, at about 1100hrs on the 26/8/2024 by the same gang headed by Safiu Fatai aka Fabo 40yrs ,Yusuf Ismaila aka Bariga, Soji Mascot, and one other Kenny.

The two (2) principal suspect now in police custody further confessed that Ahmed Tajudeen Akanbi 38yrs, paid the sum of two million naira to them, five hundred thousand each, three days after they killed the first victim Sheriff Salami Ishola on 18/4/2023 and promised other opportunities to travel out of Nigeria and positions in the society.

Despite the voluntary confessional
statement volunteered by the two (2) principal suspects. Investigation is being  intensified to arrest other suspects at large and bring them to justice.

Although, the murder cases happened in 2023 and 2024 before the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh assumed office, the cases were reopened when new facts emerged as to the perpetrator of the crime. The Commissioner of Police subsequently directed a further discreet and thorough investigation and this yielded result in the arrest of Safiu Fatai aka Faboonthe 24/1/2026 and Yusuf Ismaila aka Bariga on 6/2/2026

After a thorough painstaking examination of the fact and other prima facie evidences linking and connecting Ahmed Tajudeen Akanbi 38yrs, Soji Mascot and one other Kenny. The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh hereby declares Alhaji Ahmed Tajudeen Akanbi 38 yrs, CEO/ MD HAMTAJAK & HALROMALK Ajiran, Eti Osa LGA, Lagos State, last known address; Victoria Bay (Gate one) Royal Pine Estate, Orchid road, Ikota, Lekki, Eti Osa LGA, Lagos state wanted for the murder of  Sheriff Salami ishola, 37 yrs, gruesomely murdered on 18/4/23 at Mobatown in Eti Osa, Lagos State.

Prince Ademola Akinloye, 38 yrs, gruesomely murdered on 26/8/24 along Chevron road Ajiran, Eti Osa LGA, Lagos State. The declaration includes one Soji Mascot, Kenny and Bode.

The commissioner of police also wishes to urge the members of the public of Lagos state and other states of the federation or across the world to report any of the declared wanted person if seen to the nearest police station or through our distress call numbers 07061019374, 08065154338, 08063299264, 08039344870 and 09168630929,” the statement concluded.
