The intervention, directed by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is scheduled to commence on August 10, 2026, in collaboration with the Nigerian High Commission in the United Kingdom.

According to a statement by the Service Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi, the intervention team will visit designated cities across the UK to conduct passport enrolment and processing for eligible applicants.

The exercise is open to Nigerians with pending passport applications, new applicants and existing passport holders whose documents have less than one year before expiry and wish to renew them.

The NIS said applicants participating in the exercise are required to present their completed passport application forms alongside proof of payment.

It added that details of the designated cities, dates, venues and enrolment times would be communicated through the official channels of the Nigerian High Commission in the UK.

The Service advised applicants not to visit any location until the official schedule is released, warning them to rely only on verified communication channels for information concerning the exercise.

Meanwhile, the NIS said its digital passport application platforms, including the Contactless Passport Application System and home delivery service, will remain fully operational throughout the intervention.

The Service said the initiative is aimed at easing the backlog of passport applications and improving access to passport services for Nigerians living in the United Kingdom.
